Urban Gardens

Just because you have a small home, with no outdoor access, doesn't mean you can't have yourself a beautiful, interesting, air purifying urban garden INDOORS! Check out these interesting gardening solutions for small spaces...

Windowfarms (above images) has the most unique gardening solutions for small spaces and urban windows. Their mission is simple, yet bold - to empower urban dwellers to grow some of their own food inside year-round.

I love this colorful cactus terrarium!

You can really use any type of vessel for a terrarium - keep it simple or go for something a little more interesting like this one.

This lightbulb greenhouse is just amazing. How do they get those plants in there?

Saw this cool planter at ICFF last month

Bel-air Mini Mobile Greenhouse

These are IKEA glass display cases, turned indoor greenhouse!

Another great IKEA transformation.. Utensil holders turned planters. These have been hooked on a chain link fence in the owner's urban backyard. But I could see these being strung together and hung like the lightbulbs, in one of the previous images above, if you don't have outdoor access.

ICFF 2010

Yikes! I can't believe it's taken this long to post ICFF pics.. This year, I attended the show with two of my co-workers from Fairhaven Furniture. The show seemed a bit smaller this year in comparison to the first time I went in 2008, however there was still some great new product! Take a look...

Now, I wouldn't necessarily put this piece in my own home, but it's pretty neat. This reminds me of a light fixture you might see in a Dr. Seuss book... The eggs light up only when nestled in this light fixture. When the egg is removed, it is no longer lit.

This company does amazing things with felt. Furniture, wall panels, decorative pieces, etc. This ottoman is totally simple, but full of texture.

This cocktail table is made from blocks of wood, and sprayed in sterling silver...
it retails for a whopping $47,000......... WHAT?!?!

Who doesn't love items with dual purposes? This mirror/shelf is totally cool.

I love the floating appearance of this live edge desk. It reminds me of a Hudson Furniture piece called the Plexi coffee table that I used at a client's home up in Rockport MA.

I'm obsessed with rugs lately... really beautiful, painterly rugs. Like this one!

These would jazz up any dining table.

I'm not sure that I would even want to put anything in these shelves - they're so cool on their own!

If you look closely, you can see all the phrases that are imbedded in this "crossword" like clock. It's hard to see because of the glare, but right now it says "It is twenty past two".. so cool!

These pieces are from one of my favorite furniture companies, Hellman Chang
They have insets of Swarovski crystals! They're a little bit of "bling" for your living room ;0)

These are stair tread rugs.. great for open staircases.

I am in need of a pendent for my dining room...
could this be the one?
SO GORGEOUS!

Hand Hooks.
Do these make anyone think of that part in the Labrinth where
Sarah is falling through that tunnel lined with hands?

Such fun bookcases!

This bed is so sleek & clean - I love the built in light above the nightstand.

Bench made of cement, wood, & screws. This piece struck me right away.. I'd love to see it in different types of reclaimed wood!

Lindsey Adelman chandelier.
I also work part time as a gallery assistant at the Lori Warner Gallery in Chester, CT - we have the candelabra version of this in the gallery!

I've been wanting to use this wallcovering pattern for a while now, so I was psyched to see it displayed at the show. This is made by a company called TROVE. I actually used another pattern of theirs on a client's master bath ceiling. The patterns are so simple, yet unbelievably realistic.

Glossy lacquered and gold leaf wall panels - BLING!

Super cool, acrylic side table.

There was so much there, but these were the cream of the crop
(to me at least).
Hope you thought so too!

Our New House!

So, I've been super duper busy lately - and all because my husband and I just purchased our first home! It's literally been a whirlwind... my husband is a real "get down to business" kind of guy, so needless to say, it's been a bit hectic. Since our closing date on June 2nd, he's already stripped and painted the entire garage!.. so before too much time goes by, and we before we do too much stuff to the house, I wanted to post some pics...

The exterior color is one of the first things on the list of changes.. Yikes!

It's official, we've got the keys!

My hubbs :0)

He pulled the bike right in.. no more parking outside
