Niche Modern

Niche Modern began as most creative and successful companies do - with a pure, and simple idea. Jeremy Pyles & Mary Welch had a storefront in NYC that they needed to fill with a product. Inspiring lighting was their item of choice, however, they couldn't find anything on the market that was quite that. So, they decided to take a stab at it themselves. And Niche Modern was born!

The Stamen Modern Pendant Light was their first design taken from sketch, to prototype, to finished product. After being so well received at the 2005 International Contemporary Furniture Fair, they decided to keep on this path of developing their own lighting, rather than displaying and selling the work of other companies.

I am madly in love with their product, and am SO excited to be specifying the Circular 5 Modern Chandelier for a project I am working on out in Colorado. The sensual shape of each individual orb paired with the beautiful amber colored glass, will be the main focal point of the two story Great Room - other than the spectacular view of the Rocky Mountains!

ahhhhh.... lovely <3

Industrial Pallet Turned Coffee Table

Our first item from our picking trip is now COMPLETE! We started with a rusty old shipping pallet, and after some much needed TLC, are left with a cool industrial style coffee table.

Sad & Lonely..

After the trip home, the cleaning begins! Decades of grime are being powerwashed away.

Spraying clear coat on the newly sanded steel base to seal out rust and give it a nice finish.

I'm helping!

Glossy Close-Up

And that's it!

Dimensions:
48L x 32W x 8.5H

Price:
$350.00

Please contact me for any additional details, or to find out about the other goodies we are currently refinishing! We actually have another one of these, and they would look so cool stacked on top of each other!

Our 1st Picking Trip! - Upstate New York

My husband and I went on our very first "picking trip" to upstate New York a few weeks ago to visit an old industrial warehouse, which was once a button factory. Amidst all the rubble, crunching of broken glass, piles upon piles of buttons, shopping carts full of rollerskates, and DIRT - we found some awesome circa 1930s industrial pallets and carts! A full truckload made the trip home with us, along with a few interesting smalls. After a two and a half hour journey home, we barely pulled into the driveway and we had already put our heads together to figure out how we wanted to refinish them...

Before and Afters of the finished pallets and carts to be posted next week!

I'm Back in the Saddle Again!

After what feels like a year since my last post, I am officially BACK! So much has happened in the past few months, I almost don't know where to begin... For starters, I'd like to announce that am now operating my own teeny tiny design studio & retail shop out of a sweet little building in Downtown Chester, CT. That's right, I have taken the great leap into small business ownership! It feels like it happened so quickly, however, this has always been a dream of mine, so I already knew how I wanted certain things to be, and look, and run - everything else is still being figured out! In a mere two months, we designed, renovated, and furnished, what is now ELLE DESIGN STUDIO!

Here are some shots I took before & after the big change. Professional photos are being taken once once I have everything just right... I need to set a date soon so that my perfectionism can back off : )
